Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma in English literature. Mitchell began her professional career as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) and was stationed in Washington DC. She was promoted to Washington general reporter with NBC News two years later. From 1981 onwards, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988 she became the the chief reporter for Congress. She became chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell was the host and panelist for the TV news show Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the debates in 1988 among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her role in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at for the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Her reporting included a number of significant stories, including the Iran-contra affair, the tax reform and the budget in addition to the issue of arms control. Mitchell traveled extensively along with President Reagan for summits with Mikhail Gorbachev.
