Allison Cara Tolman was born in the United States. She was nominated for the Golden Globes and Emmy Awards in the role of Molly Solverson on the FX the series, Fargo's initial season. Tolman was born in New York City. She is a mother to two older and a younger siblings. The family relocated to England at the age of two weeks, and was there until she turned four. She lived in Oklahoma for five years and then West Texas before moving to Sugar Land. At the age of ten she was able to begin acting at Fort Bend Community Theatre. Clements High School was her high school. She graduated in 2000. Baylor University granted her a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts with an emphasis on theatrical performance. In Dallas when she graduated from college, she joined one of the founding members of Second Thought Theatre. It was in Chicago, Illinois in 2009 she completed her studies in performance through The Second City Training Center. Her career in television began when she was the lead character of FX's black comedy-crime series Fargo. Fargo is a remake of 1996 Coen brother's film by the same name. Starring veterans Bob Odenkirk, Martin Freeman as well as Billy Bob Thornton. Tolman received praise for her performance as Minnesota police officer Molly Solverson, with Vanity Fair saying the following "calmly and undoubtedly stole the entire film". In recognition of her performance, she won the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Movie/Miniseries as well as Best Actress nominations at the Emmy Awards and for the Golden Globes.
